Guangdong tops both tourism visits and spending during summer vacation

This summer, a wide array of themed attractions illuminates the landscape of cultural and tourism consumptionin Guangdong.

Data shows that Guangdong Province recorded a 5.32% year-on-year increase in tourist visits and a 2.72% rise in tourism spending, ranking first in both visitor numbers and expenditure during summer vacation.

Popular destinations included the Canton Tower, the Pearl River, Diwang Mansion of the World, Chung Ying Street, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), the Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen, the ancient city of Chaozhou, and Nan'ao Island.

The Fishing Season Festival emerged as a highlight of Guangdong's marine tourismthis summer. On August 16th, the 2025 Zhanjiang Fishing Festival officially kicked off with the striking of a gong. "This is the first time we've broughtour children to the festival. It's meaningful because we can not only enjoy the freshest seafood but also experience fishing culture," said Mr. Chen, a visitor from Guangzhou.

Guangdong has also enhanced the visitor experience through technology. The newly launched VR viewing programby the Canton Tower left tourists in awe.

During the summer vacation, there was a 12.44% year-on-year increase in inbound tourist visits and a 22.74% rise ininboundtourism spending in Guangdong. Compared to 2019, these figures surged by 142.38% and 176.58% respectively, indicating that the inbound tourism market has surpassed pre-pandemic levels.

On August 29th, the one-stop online international tourism service platform "Guangdong Cultural Tourism" was officially launched. Covering six overseas websites, including China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Malaysia, the United States, Singapore, and Japan, the platform will provide international visitors with more convenient inbound travel services.

开渔节成为今夏海洋文旅的一大亮点。8月16日,随着一声锣响,2025年湛江开渔节正式启动。“这是我们第一次带孩子参加开渔节,既能品尝最新鲜的海鲜,又能体验渔家文化,很有意义。”来自广州的游客陈先生说。

广东还通过科技赋能提升游客体验。广州塔景区新推出的VR观景项目让游客赞叹不已。

暑期广东入境游客人次同比增长12.44%,消费金额同比增长22.74%,同比2019年分别增长142.38%和176.58%,显示入境游市场已全面超越疫情前水平。

8月29日,线上一站式国际旅游服务平台“Guangdong Cultural Tourism”正式上线,覆盖中国香港、马来西亚、美国、新加坡、日本等六大境外站点。该平台将为国际游客提供更便捷的入境游服务。
